Sanitizing Aegi Dishware
Although it's always important to properly clean your children's food storage, prep, and dishware, you may be looking for ways to safely disinfect these items during cold & flu season as well as the current Coronavirus pandemic. Aegi New York’s silicone and ceramic products are easy to disinfect without using harmful chemicals or worrying about damaging the product. Below are a few ways you can disinfect Aegi New York products if you prefer to try a method other than washing by hand.
Sanitizing in the dishwasher
Running the dishwasher is an excellent and easy way to disinfect food storage and dishware. All of Aegi’s ceramic containers and silicone plates, bowls, and lids are dishwasher safe, so run them through a complete dishwasher cycle, and use the heated drying or sanitizing cycle, if your dishwasher has one.
Before removing items from the dishwasher, make sure you thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water. Completely dry your Aegi product on a drying rack or using a clean dish towel or paper towel before storing it. Avoid drying clean items with a dishcloth, as this can transfer germs from the dishcloth.
Sanitizing in the microwave oven
All Aegi products are microwave safe, so they can be sanitized with a quick spin in the microwave oven. Thoroughly wet your Aegi product by placing the product in running water or submerging it in water. Then place the product in your microwave oven and microwave on high for two minutes. This creates steam in the microwave oven which sanitizes the product. Remove the product carefully as it will be very hot. Before storing the product, dry it completely on a drying rack or using a clean dish towel or paper towel.
Sanitizing in boiling water
Your Aegi product may also be sanitized using boiling water. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully place your Aegi product in the pot and let the water boil for two minutes with your Aegi product fully submerged. Then remove with clean tongs or other clean kitchen utensil and let the item air dry or dry it using a clean dish towel or paper towel.
